Chelsea’s Lyme Story – Be Your Own Best Advocate

331

My name is Chelsea and I am 33 years old. I thought for the longest time in my mid to late 20’s that waking up with cramping pain and stiff muscles everyday was normal. I chalked it up to “getting older”. Everything changed at the end of 2017 when I went in for routine dental work. It started with having a small cavity filled, to having a root canal and ultimately an emergency extraction 9 months later.

I was in excruciating nerve pain. The dental extraction had triggered a full body Lyme flare. I had no idea what was going on with my body. Over the next few months I developed severe body cramping that would send me to the ER, dizziness, vertigo, memory problems, and migraines. I went from having an excellent memory to not even being able to form a sentence. I thought I was losing my mind. I went from working out 5 days a week to barely completing everyday tasks.

In summer of 2019 my boyfriend mentioned to me that I reminded him of a friend of his with Lyme Disease. I began my research and realized I had 90% of the symptoms. I went to my primary care doctor, who just so happens to be a LLMD, and asked them to test me. Finally I had my answer in September of 2019. I was diagnosed with Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella. They suspected I have had Lyme for at least 10 years. I never remembered being bit or having a tick on me.

I began treatment at Sound Clinic in Denver. For the first year and a half I decided to try a strictly herbal protocol. Along with weekly massages, chiropractor visits, and lots of epsom salt baths, I improved about 75% better but could not get rid of the horrible cramping in my neck and back. The beginning of 2021 we decided to try antibiotics for the first time. After 4 months of treatment, including azithromycin and tinidazol, I was finally feeling 90% better! Life changing!

Today I am a new person. I recently had sinus surgery to repair a deviated septum and have dead Lyme bacteria and build up removed from my sinuses that had been trapped for the last couple years, which finally has taken me to almost 100% healed. I am not back to working out 6 days a week, including riding my bike again 30 miles a week. I am so thankful to my team at Sound Clinic for never giving up on me. If you believe something is wrong with your body find out what it is. Be your own best advocate.

I hope this encourages you to never give up. Keep fighting this horrible disease. We are all in this together!
